Welcome
to North Beach, a charming town in Calvert County on the Chesapeake Bay,
the largest estuary in the United States, home to a thriving marine population.
Just minutes away from both Baltimore and Washington, you'll find North
Beach the perfect place to make your home. Take a look at the exciting features
North Beach has to offer. |
|
A nearby dock meets a sandy beach by the boardwalk too. At the end of the pier, you'll find dedicated fishermen, relaxing under umbrellas and waiting for their next catch. |
Many
ducks make their home by the boardwalk, waddling down the sandy passages
or drifting off in the shallow bay. A familiar sight is kids and adults
alike admiring or feeding these waterfowl, from the mother duck with her
eager row of babies to the green-capped male. |
Shops are sprinkled
across the Town of North Beach, as the town remains committed to local businesses.
From antique shops by the boardwalk to a dozen nearby restaurants, the Town
of North Beach is a home where you're sure to find favorite places to shop. |

Located
just minutes away from the Town of North Beach, the Town of Chesapeake Beach
also borders the bay. From charter fishing and group trips to recreational
boating, Chesapeake Beach offers local marinas and docks that suit your
bay needs. Many piers are also prime spots for crabbing, and local businesses
serve up the best of the bay for your enjoyment. You can dine on the water
at local restaurants too. |

The
Chesapeake Beach Water Park opened in the summer of 1995 to serve the local
community with more splashin' fun. Eight water slides, fountains, waterfalls,
a lagoon, kids' activity pool, water volleyball area and more treat everyone
to a cool time. The adjacent recreational center houses a gym for casual
games of basketball or dances, a game room with pool table, meeting rooms
with windows overlooking the water, and much more. The entire center has
become a central part of the community, with something for everyone. |
|
The
area is also full of history. In 1899, the first train arrived in Chesapeake
Beach and a year later a resort officially opened. With a boardwalk, carousel,
roller coaster and music, the town soon became a haven for Washington D.C.
vacationers. Today, the resort is gone, and the last train since departed
in 1935. The history remains alive, though, as the Chesapeake Railway Museum,
at left, houses the area's story. |
